Ohmine Brewing Company

In the book “Discovering Yamaguchi Sake,” Jim Rion says Ohmine Brewing Company is “… both the most public and open of the sake breweries … and somehow the most secretive.” Stoic buildings house their brewery and closely guarded processes, yet they invite people to visit their cafe, which serves ice cream, coffee and sake. Originally founded in 1822 in Mine, a village surrounded by abundant nature, production ceased in 1955 and was resurrected by an architect family in 2010. They profess enormous respect for culture and tradition, and are dedicated to creating an industry for the future centered around agriculture and local resources.
