Flavored sake is a fun category that allows the drinker’s taste buds and creativity to run wild! The sake is either infused or mixed with fruits such as strawberries, peaches, yuzu and more. These sake typically have lower ABV — Tippsy’s flavored sake range from 7.2% to 13.5% — as compared to the average of 15%-16%. Our flavored sake are also very affordable, priced largely in the $20 to $50 range and costing no more than $60.
There are many ways to enjoy flavored sake. Tsukasabotan “Yuzu,” made with 10% yuzu juice, makes a fantastic, citrusy aperitif similar to limoncello. Yuzu sake has also become a favorite for mixing cocktails, especially with clear spirits like gin and vodka. Kamikokoro “Momo,” made with peach yeast and Okayama prefecture’s “queen of peaches” (Shimizu Hakuto), is delicious on its own or paired with brunch foods. Strawberry sake like Daisekkei “Ichigozake,” flavored with the juice, seeds and pulp of local Azumino strawberries, pairs well with desserts. Even try making it into a boozy smoothie!
