Rihaku Janome Cup
A little gift from Rihaku
This Rihaku branded cup holds a traditional measurement of 3 “shaku” (54 milliliters), big enough for a few gulps. The blue concentric circles inside are called “janome” (snake’s eye) and are used to evaluate the color of sake. These were individually wrapped and shipped to us from the brewery to show appreciation for spreading the love of sake. Rihaku is one of the leading premium sake brands, having worked for decades to export amazing sake to the U.S. in partnership with the sake evangelist, John Gauntner. We’re so happy to share both their amazing sake from rural Shimane prefecture, and their ceramic cups.
