Yorozuya Brewing Company

Yorozuya Brewing Company

“Yorozuya” means “jack-of-all-trades,” a name the company took due to its role as a miso and soy sauce producer, as well as a sake brewery. Founded in 1790 in Fujikawa, Yamanashi prefecture, their business prospered thanks to the Fujikawa River transport industry. The brewery is known for its sake brand Shunnouten, which translates to “warblers singing in spring.” It comes from a poem acclaimed poet Akiko Yosano wrote in 1933 when she stayed at the brewery. In 2001, their more than 150-year-old miso production facility became Sake Brewery Gallery Rokusai, where they sell sake and function as an exhibition space.
