Miyagi prefecture

Miyakanbai - Junmai Ginjo

Sweet and voluptuous yet never overbearing, this junmai ginjo goes down effortlessly. Its inviting aroma is best experienced with a wine glass. Start by serving it chilled, and observe how the notes of pear and melon expand as the temperature rises. This mellow yet expressive sake is the perfect accompaniment to traditional Japanese cuisine such as kaiseki and Buddhist vegetarian cuisine, which honor the natural flavors of their ingredients.

Niigata prefecture

Koshi no Hakugan - Kuromatsu

Nakagawa Brewing Company’s flagship “futsushu” (table sake) is a local Niigata favorite. “Kuromatsu” is a name they retained before the current sake classification system. Like its name, this sake is classic. Dry and versatile, drink it at various temperatures and it will elevate any meal. It has a 60% RPR — above the call of duty for a futsushu — but that’s how much they care about taste!

Nagano prefecture

Kawanakajima - Junmai - Nigori

Made by one of the oldest breweries in Japan, this classic nigori has a crisp edge. The mash is carefully strained to give it a smooth, mellow mouthfeel. At the same time, it’s rich and full bodied, packing enough punch to stand up to meat dishes. Its dry finish can also cut through oily dishes; it would go especially well with something deep-fried and substantial.

Your questions, answered

Sake at restaurants in the U.S. is often not the highest quality from Japan. Authentic Japanese sake comes in many varieties, with bright aromas, crisp or viscous textures, and smooth or effervescent qualities. The Sake Flight lets you try three different styles at home, curated like those in premium restaurants, with a tasting card to help you explore and find what you enjoy.

You can enjoy it alone or with others. The flight includes three sake, three ochoko cups, and a tasting mat for comparing them side by side. This makes it easy to note the flavor differences. If sharing with more people, you can add extra cups or use your own glasses.

We suggest pouring all three into the cups and tasting them side by side, as described in the guide. This helps you appreciate the range of flavors and textures.

Serve it chilled, similar to white wine. Some can be enjoyed warm or at other temperatures. The guide explains serving temperatures and food pairings to improve the experience.

Yes, these are exclusive imports that would cost $15 per glass at a restaurant, or about $135 for the equivalent of three bottles. It also includes three ochoko cups, tasting cards, a beginner's guide (valued over $20), and free shipping (which normally costs at least $20).

Yes, we offer free shipping for The Sake Flight to make it easier for you to experience authentic sake.

It ships from California within 2 business days, sometimes as early as the next day. Delivery is 2-3 days on the West Coast and 5-7 days for the rest of the US.

Each bottle is from a different Japanese region, selected by professionals from over 500 brews for cultural authenticity and taste. Unlike typical U.S. options with added costs and delays, this avoids middlemen. The guided side-by-side tasting with notes helps build your understanding and enjoyment.
