Shusenkurano

Shusenkurano

1540. That’s the year this brewery was established. Just let that sink in. They are the oldest sake brewery in Nagano prefecture, and the seventh-oldest in Japan. Famously, Lord Shingen Takeda drank their sake during the Battle of Kawanakajima. Today, this small brewery produces only 50,000 bottles annually in a traditional manner to ensure high quality. Yet as steeped in tradition and history as they are, Shusenkurano welcomed a female brewmaster, Mariko Chino, for the first time in 2000, and she has since won many awards. Shusenkurano is excited to share centuries-worth of Japanese sake tradition with the world.
