Higashiyama Brewing Company is one of the smallest breweries in Kyoto’s Fushimi ward, making only 400 koku. The well-respected rice farmer Masayasu Tanaka grows rice for the brewery. He is famous for growing some of Japan’s best quality “Yamadanishiki” rice, considered the pinnacle of premium sake rice. The Konteki brand exclusively uses 100% organic rice.
